"Pa, you're just rilly silly,"  Calin (4 years old)

A personal note from the Scovels:

A journal about the not so ordinary life of an artist, a writer, three dogs, two cats and a few other assorted critters who live together, work together and more often than not -  love together.

After 35 years together, living all over the United States and surviving eight teenagers, we know family is what it's all about.  Over the years and the miles, we've been fortunate to meet many wonderful people who have become part of our "extended" family" . . . fellow artists, "brothers in arms," ports in the storm and just plain old friends to the end.  We can't even imagine our lives without you.

This part of the website is called A Personal Album - the perfect place to keep you all posted on the goings-on at the Y-ME Ranch.

For friends and family, a quick update on where everyone is and what they're up to:

Staci and her husband, Cody, live on The Steele Ranch (Cody's family ranch) in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, with their four children, several horses and assorted other ranch animals.  (NOTE:  We moved to Fort Sumner in April of 08 after I accepted a job as CEO of the Community Health Center here. ds)  Staci is a flight nurse for Aerocare and heads up the base in Clovis, NM, while working finishing up Nurse Practitioner school at Texas Tech and Cody works on the ranch and holds down the fort while Mom is away flying or going to school. Kolt, our oldest grandson, is 17, over six feet tall and gets more handsome every year.  He played quarterback for the high school football team and they won the state title.   He's growing into such a kind and loving young man.   Johni is 14, beautiful and all about boys.  She has her mother's sense of humor and drive and will be a force to reckon with in the next few years.  Between social life, volleyball, basketball and barrel racing, she stays plenty busy.  The twins are a constant source of entertainment.  They're 7 now and in the first grade.  Creed has an unique, eccentric sense of humor that keeps us all in stitches and Keeli is still a Princess - we hope that never changes.

Christi and her partner, Mylessa, and the kids, Codi Ann and Calin, moved to Fort Sumner this year - and how wonderful is that!.  Codi Ann, 14, and Calin, 11, are enjoying going to school with their cousins and we're loving getting to spend more time with them.   Christi does some work for us part time and is going back to school this summer to finish her degree in History, a dream she's carried around for far too long.  Codi Ann just turned 14 (going on 20) and is 5'10"!  She's always busy with basketball, volleyball and in the spring and summer - soccer.   Calin is 10 and is smart, clever, funny and mischievous.  He's all boy and loves climbing trees and turning the outside world into his own universe.   They're both growing up way to fast.

Hillary lives in Tulsa with her new husband, Mike, her three boys and Mike's two children,  Her oldest, Jackson, is 10 and has turned into such a polite, sensitive young man.  He's more computer literate than some IT techs I know.  Maddox is a doll - 6 years old and has the most wonderful imagination.  Lane is without a doubt, the funniest child around!  He's almost 5 but is taller and bigger than his brother Maddox and looks more like he's 7 or 8.  We genuinely enjoy all the boys when they come for a visit.

Kevin lives in Amarillo and works at Texas Roadhouse as a service manager.  He's dating a wonderful girl, Jennifer, who has an adorable son, Kaydn.   Some of you will remember Lonny who came to live with us when he was barely 18 and a freshman in college.  Lonny did a stint in the Air Force as a C-130 pilot and is now a Captain for Southwest Airlines, based out of Orange County, Ca.  He lives and plays in Seattle, Washington.
